Wearing Burgundy

I did a post (see here) a couple of weeks ago on the current burgundy trend, and have since picked up a few gorgeous pieces! I'm now thinking of Wintery ways to style burgundy, so here's a few ideas!

First things first- makeup! I think, if you are going to use burgundy tones in your make up, it's best to keep the rest simple, as burgundy is very bold! I would personally use burgundy for my eyes and/or lips, keeping the rest really subtle!

I am in love with Kristen's shimmering, smouldering eyes here! I love how she kept the rest of her makeup neutral and subtle using very little blusher and nude lipgloss.

I personally feel that for a gorgeous Winter look, burgundy looks fabulous against bronzes, golds and blacks! Have a lovely Monday! Lots of Love,

Christmas Wishlist 2012

It's officially that time of year again! I love the festive season, and I know as soon as the Halloween festivities start, it's time to start getting ready for Christmas! I'm lusting over sparkle and super fabulous pieces this Winter- here's my (current) wishlist ;)

I have a feeling 'Santa' has already picked up on my 'subtle' hints, so i'm ridiculously excited for Christmas! What are you wishing for this year?

Kristen's Look For Less!

Kristen Stewart has without a doubt become a style icon in recent months! Her edgy, minimal look is just so effortless, sophisticated & purely stunning! When I heard Kristen was the new face of Balenciaga, I immediately thought they've found the perfect girl to represent the brand- just like them she's bold, edgy & effortlessly sexy!
Her recent go-to look on the red carpet has been pairing up sophisticated bodycon dresses with pointy stiletto heels, minimal jewellery & bold, but simple, make up.

Autumn Trend- Burgundy

Deep Reds are very on trend this Autumn! Shopping this week, I noticed so many people wearing gorgeous burgundy pieces- including accessories and make up! I also lusted over many of the pieces I came across in the many fabulous shops in Liverpool! I am in love with this colour, it's the perfect shade for Autumn- reminding me of a rich, warm mulled wine!
For a fabulous, warm, wintery look, i'd match deep reds with blacks, golds and browns!

Paris is my favourite place in the whole world! I love everything about the place- the beauty of the City, the architecture, the food, the people and above all, the fashion. Paris in general inspires me to make an effort to get dressed! So here are my favourite looks from my trip in late July.

Get the Point!

The past few months, I couldn't help but notice a rapid rise in pointed high heels! Its safe to say the pointy high heel trend is well and truly back, and at it's height this past month especially, with my favourite celeb style icons wearing them at all the big September events, such as NY Fashion Week and the film festivals.

1&7: Manolo Blahnik 'BB' Pointed Pumps, 2&3: Jimmy Choo 'Anouk' Pumps, 4: Proenza Schouler colourblock cap toe pumps, 5: Christian Louboutin Pigalle Spikes 120 studded leather pumps, 6: Lanvin Pointed-Toe Asymmetric Leather Pumps, 8,9,10&11: Casadei 'Blade' pointed pumps

I absolutely love really high, pointed heels! They are so timeless, classic, look amazing with anything, and give you a super sexy and sophisticated look! They can be worn with jeans, skinny pants, dresses and even for work!
I plan on buying many pairs, but i'm desperate to splurge on a pair of Christian Louboutin Pigalle heels in black patent (The 120 obviously) because I actually cannot think of a more perfect, classic, sexy shoe! For me, it's THE pointy heel.
But until I can afford the splurge, i've been looking at High Street alternatives, and quite frankly, i'm spoilt for choice! Here are some of my favourites.

1: Boutique 9 'Justine' Pumps, 2: Topshop 'Galactic' studded heels, 3: Dune 'Bernie' Leopard Pointed Heels, 4: Zara 'Mirrored Court Shoe', 5: Topshop 'Game2' pointed heels, 6: Shoemint 'Kathryn' leather pointed pumps

New York Fashion Week 09/2012- Leather, Leather, Leather...

Leather made frequent appearances on the runways at the latest New York Fashion Week. From all leather dresses by the likes of Calvin Klein & Alexander Wang to pretty leather skirts and panelling by Jason Wu & Mandy Coon- just to name a few! I'm really excited that the leather trend is still going strong for S/S 2013, a leather panel on a delicate dress instantly gives it a sexier, edgier look so i'm dying to work this trend into my wardrobe!

Personally I love subtle leather looks, like a leather skirt with a pretty top to make it edgier but not over the top! Just because its more appropriate for everyday life! A simple dress with a leather trim or collar detail could be worn to work, or out in the day, but can be dressed up for the night! so here are some of my favourites!

1. Miss Selfridge Leather Printed Maxi Dress 2. J Brand Dyan Sweatshirt Dress 3.Zara Quilted Leather Skirt 4. Trouvé Faux Leather Bib Top 5. Sanctuary Faux Leather Shift Dress 6. Sister Jane Tweed Skater Dress with Faux Leather Collar and Studs

I love the Miss Selfridge dress, it's perfect for a girly night out! And the Sanctuary leather shift dress would be great for a date night!

Look for Less!

I'm in love with the 'Bubble' necklace from J Crew, it's perfect for bringing an outfit to life instantaneously and can be worn both day & night!

However at £125 a pop, I felt it was a little steep for costume jewellery! So needing this necklace in my life, I went on a little hunt, knowing that a faithful High Street brand would supply me this look for much less, and I was right!
New Look have an identical necklace for £8.99!!!! That saves £116 to spend on necklaces in other colours, or a new pair of heels... ;)

Early Autumn Styles...

Once September comes, the leaves seem to automatically fall on cue, and you start to anticipate the colder weather. And while shopping for gorgeous new knitwear, jeans and other wintery delights are ever so important, take advantage of the warmer autumn weather of September!
Probably one of my favourite months as I love the blend of warmth with the odd crisp chill! It's the inbetween of Summer & Winter- ie: the best of both! Remember to mix it up a little and keep a mix of both in your outfit choices!

For a night out, keep it simple but show some skin! Bare legs and arms with minimal jewellery is a great look for Autumn! Paired up with ankle boots and a fur jacket to keep you warm!

Dress £42- Topshop
Booties £95- River Island
Necklace £125- J Crew

Have fun shopping all the new A/W collections- just remember the colder seasons are not just about cable-knit sweaters and Ugg boots!

Falling in Love with Fall Fashion!

I cannot believe how long its been since I have posted anything! So much has happened since my last post 7 months ago-
I had my final deadlines and exams, I travelled around Australia, I graduated university with a Law degree(!!!!), I turned 21, and I visited my favourite place in the world, ever, Paris!
Inbetween all of that important stuff though, I shopped, shopped, shopped!
I will do some posts on Australia and all the goodies I bought for my trip, but right now i'm OBSESSED with Autumn styles.

Autumn fashion is my absolute favourite! I love Autumn, I love the colours and the smells, I love that its almost Christmas (Lol!) and I just love layering up in gorgeous coats, scarves, boots and anything warm & wintery!

I actually have a favourite scent for Autumn, at first I actually didn't like it so much, but it's just so beautiful and warm- I'm in love!
Karl Lagerfeld's 'Sun, Moon & Stars' will get you so inspired for Autumn buying it's insane. As soon as I smell it I want to raid Topshop for a knitted jumper and boots, and take a walk in the falling leaves in the park! It's a gorgeous blend of Orange, Vanilla, Musk, Sandalwood and other exotic smells- so do give it a try and see if it inspires you! (Purchase Here).

Jewellery...

I don't think i've ever done a post on jewellery so I thought I might as well! The jewellery I wear often changes, depending on the weather and time of year! In the summer I love to wear big bright coloured jewels and more wooden beads, long rings etc... all the boho stuff!
In the winter my jewellery is more classic! My everyday winter jewellery consists of pearls, silver, golds, and anything that sparkles!

Everyday in the winter I just go to this little box for my essentials!

And of course I love to wear diamonds- who doesn't!? This is one of my favourites.

Versace for H&M

H&M has collaborated once again with an amazing designer and I can sense my bank card is screaming! I need to get my hands on some of these amazing affordable pieces! Although some of the more elaborate pieces are definitely not for me, there are quite a few that I wouldn't mind trying my best to pull off! It's a well known fact that most of Versace's pieces are quite eccentric- to say the least, and make very bold statements! So all of you confident girls out there, get queuing!

Here are a few of my favourites from this collection!

This blouse is just adorable and totally versatile! This look stunning over some leather skinny pants/ black skinny jeans and sky scraper platform heels, maybe with a fur gillet as well, for a night out... Or for a chic cute look in the day why not pair it up with a long, layered pearl necklace, thick tights and this skirt below, also from the V for H&M collection!

This skirt is also an amazing piece, it just oozes old hollywood glamour/ French chic sophistication! It would look amazing with the top above or you could wear it in the style of possibly one of the most elegant and glamorous British women, Emma Watson.
Emma Watson Chanel Pre Fall Dinner at Nobu

She wore a similar skirt at an event here and looked absolutely beautiful! I just love the detail on this skirt, the fabric, the pleats, the detail at the bottom, just wow! it will flatter your waist, bum, and make you look instantly chic!

I also love this skirt from the collection

I would personally wear this with quite a plain blouse, maybe an ivory coloured silk top with a single stunning gold embellished necklace because you don't want to go over the top with this skirt as it has alot of detail and you wouldn't want too much as it would be in your face! so I would keep jewellery and other prints very minimal, one necklace would do! Less is more as my nana used to say! Very true! pair it with some tights and ballet flats/ simple heels!

Although this colour is very loud and out there I just love this dress

The structure is so stunning and the simple detail means you can totally get away with the colour! I would wear this with a simple ivory platform pump with a slight pearly tone! A YSL tribtoo pump springs to mind! I think that would be perfect or just a plain black platform pump. Again I would keep it simple as the dress makes a big statement! Think Kim Kardashian with this dress, this is definitely her style! As well as looking very sophisticated and elegant in this dress due to the fabulous length, you would also look ultra sexy as it hugs and emphasises every curve!

So these were just a few of my loves from this Versace for H&M collection, I hope you girls can get your hands on something you really like!
Love, Rachael xoxo
